RACING AT TAUHERENIKAU. CONCLUDING DAY. BIG RACE"\YON- BY- SINAPIS; (By Telegraph.—Special Keporter.l The attendance was qnito up to the standard for tho concluding day of-the Wairarapa meeting. The racing was good, and some ■ fine finishes resulted. Mr. John O'Halloran, of Napier, who officiated as starter for the'first time, Rave entire satisfaction. Horses owned by Mr. E. Bidwill raced most consistently at tho meeting, and were placed in every raco they contested. Mr. James Armstrong's mar© Eocene was tho best-backed of the quartet which contested the Russell Handicap', and after being well placed the whole way, she camo through in the straight, and won by- half a length from The Great Mogul,, who was a similar^distance in front of Black Lupin. Killaloo, the other starter, was beaten off. Six runners faced the starter in the Tawaha Hack Handicap. Papamarama, who was making his first appearanco at the meeting, was a better favourite than Vocation. The latter led nearly all the way, and looked to have the race well in hand, but Borsil finished very fast on the outaido, and, catching Vocation in tho last stride, beat him : by a neck. Arrahnh. was a length away, and then came Reno and Elovated. . . The New Zealand Cup winner, Sinapis, scored decisively in the big handicap, and. her supporters got a remark-ably-good price. -Tho long.price was probably duo t<» tho fact that T. L. • Ca'tt rode ' the mare, in place of F. D. Jones,.who rode her on Thursday. Peroneal, a good favourite, and Sartovna, second favourite, carried on tho running from Sinapis to the homo'turn, where the last-named took charge and won by a length from Birlclino, who was putting in good work over the last furlong. Imagination-was a-fair third. Imaroso was next. After the race-T.-Catt-was iiped £5 for careless, riding,- it being alleged that he interfered withlmmer... Braebum was well, backed, but he began badly and tlion was slow to get going. The chestnut mare Monologue was not up against a good lot in the Hack Welter, and despite her big weight, she was; a better favourite than anything elso in tho race. She took charge at the start, but was steadied.and did not got to the front till half-way down the straight. - Then - she wore down the others • and 'scored by - a length. Top Note, Otakura, and Overrate had a great racofor second place and .'crossed tho mark in a line. The judge placed Otakura. second, by a head, from Top Note, with Over-rate fourth.

Altitude was the only defection from the carded field 'in the Ruamahunga Hack. Tho Elevation filly Submersion was a better favourite than Holywell, Sir Moutoa, and Wailaiid, : who were equally backod. The -Blenheim animal was lucky, to. score owing to Holywell, who had a good'lead, again running off the course.' '

All started in-the Juvenile Handicap, for.which 'Reputation and Altitude, who were . bracketed, carried twice as much money.as anything else .in/.tho ''race. Messrs. Divan's-colt Columbus led from Roumania to tho turn for home,' but when tho field-was straightened up. Refutation-put in a great run . and pained tho; victory- by half a . length. Miss Trumps was third and Silverstream again occupied fourth place. •Lady Vladimir, who won the Pirinoa Hack Race, had the distinction of paying the ibiggest , dividend of- the meeting and' beating-the hottest favourito, Cha'rlerose, tho runner-up, is equalling 1 avlova's record for -seconds, and lias already .filled' this berth, oil five'occasions. ' Sutatura .was ill - front when -they swung into the-straight in tho -Rmviri Handicai), 'and she held her position to -the finish. ..' .Details,of' the racing are as follow:— RUSSELL .
