SIR ALMRQTII WRIGHT ON SAL- , ■. ' : YARSAN. ■ 05* Tcleerapk-Pross Assaciation-CopyriElit (Rcc. January 2, 11.15 p.m.! London, .January 2. Sir Almroth Wright, .Director of the Therapeutical Innoculation Department at St. Mary's Hospital, has completed, his report.on pneumonia causes at the Rand mines, the first part of which was published a year ago. He explains tho experiments, which went to prove that minors' phthisis was a causative agent of pneumonia, and incidentally, protests against tho present method of pouring drugs into the human body in order.to destroy bacteria, without regard to the after effects of such unscientific treatment, which are harmful.

Professor Paul Ehrlirh's salvattsan drug was an example of an absolutely scientific drug, which attacked a spcciii= organism only, combined with tho protoplasm of that organism, and formed an innocuous chemical compound, which had finally passed the test of "control experiment." In future all-vaccine will require to bo tested in this manner, Tlio problem to be solved .was rather the amount of the antidote which was likely ot set free the patient's blood, than tho amount of vaccine to bo taken.
