AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.
" ! The .'Auckland Exhibition ■■ has . now i been opon for u little over a inontu ? and I bo far has been .attended with conspicuous success. :' it was handicapped at | first by bad weather, niul bv the delays resulting from. the strike, but tuo weather has latterly changed, ana very j few. of tho'exhibits nrc now missing. In' fact! a 'somewhat widely-spread idea that the Exhibition is "half finished is almost as far irom the iacts aH it cftU bo. In view of tho summer weather conditions and other circnmstanocs, tho fact that the total attendance for tho • lirst month has como the quarhi ark, while i 0 7 :.600 arsons ..paid for admission, apart from season tiekct-boldcrs, indicates that tho public have found it a fruitful source of interest and amusement. .! .Undoubtedly one of tho gtreat attractions to which large , crowds have responded bar. been-the ■ presence of tho Jloyal Artillery Band, which plays twice 'daily in tho open grounds.;-- • ibo eoncerts have been ;i revelation to musiciovers, and hundreds of people cosne un t > after day to hear them, having bought season tickets for that purpose. Hut for. thoso .who are unmusical or too frivolous to sit down to a band more than onco a week, there is a wealth 01 entertainment, and die. big side-shows bavo bad a busy and profitable timo sowing the seed of , mirth among, tlic-ir crowding visitors. Tho it* self, to which tho features how mentioned are important appendages, naturally attracts visitors first, and last, too 5 the concensus of opinion among t»icn\ is that it is a far larger,_ more'complete and more elaborate affair than mest of then? ever expected it to bo. _ . Auckland has latterly been;, icroasmgly filled with people from other p&rts of tho Dominion, taking advantage ot tho holiday season to make their excursions ; and in new of the weather which sets tu steadily at 1111timo of tho year, tho present is a very I good time to visit tho north.
