Dodds v.-Moore (Queen's Knight opening).—The', game followed on the lines of centro gambit, white being movo ahead. More, very pressed..for.tune, played weakly at-tho 12th move,- which resulted in tho loss of a rook.; 4 !,- He resigned on tho 22nd movo. James v. Hicks (Queen's Gambit declined). —l'iay proceeded on the orthodox lines till tlio 16th move, when Hicks made a move, which enabled James to Work up a combination resulting in tho gain of a piece. Later exchanges left him with fire pawns to two, when Hicks resigned. Mason r. Kelling (Queen's Gambit declined—ln the early -stages, Mason won an exchange, and established a passed pawn,- but did not pursue his advantage as he might havo done, and Kelling succeeded in building up a. safe defence, Mason gavo up his passed pawn to break Kelling's position, but tho latter annexed another pawn, and thereafter was ablo to take the offensive by effective play. " He, secured Mason's resignation at the 46th move, mate in three being then,'inevitable. Myers and Wingfiold' (Queen's Gambit declined).— Wingfield early gained two pawns, but later was forced to surrender one. .Some critical play ensued, t-ho ending being interesting and unusual. Severne (Ruy Lopez);—This was an exciting game, full of vicissitudes, tho issue being uncertain till tho very end. A" draw was agreed to at the 62nd move. Gyles countered on Q side, and drove his opponent's king round tho board. Hicks got short, of time, and made somo weak moves, allowing Gyles to sacrifice-queen and bishop for queen, and win by queening a pawn. Stewart v. Myers- (Scotch). —Myers lost- two pawns in tho opening, and Stewart obtained a- strong attack. Ono or two weak moves on his part, however, enabled Myers to work up a' counter attack, which ultimately prevailed. Stewart resigned at tho 60th move. - n-. .j '.
