SWIMMING.
file residents of Kilbimie and Newtown met on Monday evening at tho schoolhouso to consider tho formation of a swimming club, when it was decided to form a club, to be known as tho Evans Bay Swimming Club, both in the interests of swimmers and those unable to swim.' Also, demonstrations of lifesaving ure to bo given on opportune occasions, and generally to fester tho interests of swimming. Messrs. Cooper, Stevenson, and Blick were representatives from tho centre, and their explanations and suggestions wore much appreciated by all co.i.cemeil. It was decided to affiliate with tho Welliijgton Centre. A ladies' branch. oommittei? was also formed. The following officers wero elected: —President, Mr. L. 11. Fox; captain, Mr. B. Levestam; 'treasurer, Mr. AmosOeden; secretary (pre ten:-.), Mr. A. G. Wallace. A strong initial committee of about twenty was* set up, and next week another meeting will bo held, when further enrolling of members will take place. ' •
