The "Daily Chronicle" (Liberal), in a leading article, comments on tlio prowing alarm in Australia at the cost of military training, which, according to the evidence of the expenditure per head, is double that of Germany. "Having regard to the ceosraphical isolation of Australia," sa.ys the paper, "and its youthfulness as a community, this burden of non-produetivo expenditure is decidedly excessive."
