At the inquest which was held in connection with tlio Calumet disaster evidence was gfren to the effect that a man who was wearing the membership badge of the Citizens' Alliance, which body endeavoured to suppress the recent strike, shouted: "Fire!" and so precipitated the fatal panic. Other witnesses were positive that no such badge was worn. Moyers, the strike leader, lias undergone an operation to have a bullet extracted from his back. He declares that he was both shot and clubbed' when ho icfused tlio citizens' subscriptions to the Calumet Disaster Eelief Fund.
