SMALLPOX AND QUARANTINE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, December 30Dr. Cumpston, Commonwealth Director of Quarantino, lias informed the Hon. R. H. Rhodes, Minister of Public Health, that ho is prepared to remove all quarantino restrictions on passengcis from New Zenland to Australia, providing tho present and future cases of smallpox arc isolated, that contacts are kept under supervision, that every means bo taken to detect unreported cases, and that bulletins bo forwarded weakly.' Vessels from New Zealand arriving at Sydney are to bo inspected and released under the samo conditions is exist regarding' people leaving Sydney for other parts of the Common:ivealth—namely,' an undertaking to be given.'to 1 report any illness within tweiity-one days. The conditions regarding the isolation of patients, the Minister said, had been , observed in New Zealand- throughout, ' and in order to expedito tho removal of the restrictions ho had cabled agreeing to tho conditions. Tho restrictions in New Zealand against Australia had been removed before Christmas.
