Sir YVilliam Heskoth Lever, who -was Cicated a baronet ill 1011, is ail Hffiiornry Associate of tho Royal Institute of British Artists, chairman of tho Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, awl is chairman of tho widely-ktimvii firm of soap-maters that created Port Sunlight, in Lajic.lshire. Ho was born in Bolton (Lancashire) on September 19, 1851, and :eceived bis education at tho Bolt-on Church Institute. Ho entered b-ia father's business in 1867., and ten years later removed to YYigan, and later to Warrington and Wirra). Ho contested the Wirra'l scat (Parliamentary) in LOT, Birkenhead in 1892, 1894, and 1.8D5, and represented tho Wirral Division (Cheshire) from 1908 to 1010. The firm of Messrs. Lever Bros, is known all over tho world as tho biggest manufacturers of soap in the British Empire. The firm has estensivo interest!! in the South Seas, and employs its own licet of stenniersto collect tho copra from tho various island groups.
