' A party, consisting of Messrs. Taylor, Ewbank Home, and Bennett, ou Sftturday visited the scene of the Paekaka-. riki motor accident, and after, a general survey found the car littlo damaged. Tlio wind-screen and a side-door were broken, but otherwise everything appeared in good order. After tethering the motor-car to the tree that fortunately prevented it from going to the bottom of the kill, the party returned and reported the position to ,the owner, Mr. D. Eossborough (who is recovering rapidly from tlio mishap). It was decided to use a double-purchase winch to haul the car 011 to the road, and all attempt will bs made at au early date to get it up.
As a result of carol-playing the Pctono Municipal Band collected altogether £33 Is, 3d, The Lower Hutt district contributed £11 18s. 9d. of this amount, whilst P-etoiie and Alicetown were responsible for the remainding £33 1.8. 3d. It Is understood that part of this money will bo utilised for furnishing the band room, and tlio balance placcd to tho credit of the February Carnival Fund. ■
Tho Petone senior cricket team will visit Shannon and a play a match against a team representing that place on New Year's Day.
