The Rov, father Daly, of Upper Hutt, had worked hard lor the success of the initial venture- last year, and, in no wav discouraged with' the result, mado another big effort-this year. This timetlio result was most satisfactory. Them wero large .numbers of visitor's from town and those and the picknickers from tho Hutt Valley dotted themselves /over tho amplo space which tho TrcnUiiun racoeonrio encloses, Tho programmo of events produced some interesting contests, tho equestrian events being especially good. It was quit© a diy out for tlio children, who were present in largo numbers, tor besides races and garden feto events therffwero such amusements as a Christmar, tree, tho fairy well, Punch and ,Jnuy show. Tho trophies won during tho day were" presented by Mrs. Bateson and Father Daly foto'in the afternoon.

Lieutenant, Davis judged.tho jumping events, and Major A. A. Samuel the ridnig events, while Mrs. Bateson judged ■'tho floral and novelty events.
