PHYSICAL DEFECTS OF CHILDREN. By Telerra-uh—Preai Assoolation-CorTrirtt "Times"—-Sydney "Sun" Special Cables. London, December 22. Sir George Newman, chief medical officer of the Education Board, reports that of six million school children examined. 10 per cent, possessed defective eyesight, 2 per cent, defective hearing, 2 per ccnt. suppurating ears, 10 .per cent, adenoids, 1 psr cent, ringworm, 1 per cent, tuberculosis, 35 per cent, heart disease, and over 50 per cent, rcnuiring a dentist. ITnlf a million were physically undermined owing to malnutrition.
