Mr. George Innis, who has been appointed acting-manager of tho Bank of New Zealand at Auckland, is a son of Mr. Innes, of this town. Loughnan), with Mrs. Loughnan and their eldest son, visit England shortly. A singular caso was brought against W. J. Smith and Son, butchers, in tho Court on Monday. They wcro charged with having failed to allow an employee meat the .value of os. weekly, or money to that amount in lieu of wages as provided in tho Hawke's Bay and Manawatu Butchers' Award. They pleaded guilty, and paid a fine of. £2.
