CRICKET CLUB CONCERT.

A successful benefit concert was given in' St.- Peter's Schoolroom, '(Jhuzueo Street .last evening in .aid of ,the funds of tho Central Cricket Club. Tho hall was crowded and from tho frequent applause and insistent encores it was evident that tho efforts of tho performers wero appreciated, Tho contributors to tho' programme included some of the successful performers at tho reccnt .'compniitidns and other local talent; ' Such artists as the inimitable Cecil Haines, Dr. Males, Miss Betty I'urdon, and Mr. J. Culford 13ell wero on tho bill. Tho two first-named gave their ever popular rag-timo- favourite "Waiting by tho Mississippi," and received a triple encore.. Mr. W. W. Goadie met with a favourable reception in his vocal numbers "Queen of Connemara" and "A I'eriect Day." Miss Winifred Lonsdale gave Margaret Cooper's' success with good effcct and : was cncorcd. ■ Miss Caseby gave':, as a''violin solo,- '-"Uno Plaints" (Poussard), 'while two good performers .were heard in Mr. 1* Cutforth (vocal solo 'VYouth"). and Mr. Stanley Italian ■ (musical monologue). ■ - Altogether the'promoters nave every reason to feel pleased at the result of their efforts.'.And. it is expected that tlio club..will" 1 benefit to the extent of. about:' £\o' as' a result.
