At the annual prize-giving of tlie Hurworth Preparatory Scliol, Wangamii, one of Hie principal prize-winners was Arthur Porritt, son of Dr. E. Porritl, Besides being at the top of his classes in many sub.iurt=, he won the ofiieial school prize, awarded lo the best nil-round boy in tho school, and the class prize. In athletic* also lie led II:e srholo. Another successful impil win X. E. I.iggiton, von of Mr. fi. [■'. I.iggiton. Though nol: yet II years of age, this boy secured Hie scholarship, and was second in three other subjects. Mrs. Lydia Morgan, of Brook-row, ParkLane, Tipton, was putting on her boots n few months ago when a pin penetrated her flesh near the ankle.
