Company 'at a board meeting to-day took into (special consideration tho valuable services rendered by- the employees afloat and ashoro who.have remained loyal to the company during the strike, and ill .conveying to them, their appreciation announced also in the resolution which follows that a bonus of one month's pay lias been voted. The resolution runs thus:' "Tlio directors consider tlio time opportuno to give expression to their appreciation of tho action of their employees afloat and ashoro who spontaneously tendered their tervices to assist in minnnising the inconvenience i 6 which tho public and the company wero put by tho strike of the waterside workers, and tho withdrawal of tho seamen, firemen, and .others from tho eonipany'.s ships. Masters, officers, engineers, chief' stewards, and the shoi« staff, both indoors and out, placed their services-in. any capacity at tho disposal "of .tho directors, and their co-opora-tjqn,-,mado. ,it ;possible ; to maintain the principal branches of the company's servico with but slight interruption. Ignoring personal discomfort and distinctions of rank, tho great majority of tho company's employees cheerfully undertook any work assigned them, and tlicy. have had the satisfaction of seeing that' their. Joyal assistance has enabled tho winipany to overcome tho very serious difficulties which they had to face, and which would have been' wellwiigh > insurmountable without,:'their-aid: Tho directors, therefore, gladly embrace, tho opportunity to thank them heartily for their support, and to assure them of tlio company's full appreciation of their action.
