Tho stamp duties in- tho deal totalled nearly £00,000. Tho gross rentals from the estate are estimated at £230,000. The initiative in the deal came from the Duke. Mr. Deoley's first offer was made without inspecting the property. Ho then visited the locality, and a few calculations made on tho corner of a blotting-pad formed tho basis of a second offer, which was accepted after half an hour's talk with tho Duke.
