HOSPITAL AFFAIRS.
At yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board, there were present: The Rev. W, A. Evans (chairman), Mrs. I). M'Laren, the Rer. J. K. Elliott, the Rev. H. Van Siaveren, Dr. F. W. Mackenzie, Messrs. D. Campbell. F. Castle, 11. Freeman. W. Galloway, B. R. Gardener, D. M'Larcn, F. T. Moore, J. W. M'Ewan, G... Nash, G, J, Pethoriek, D. Robertson, and J, Smith.
Leave of absence was granted to Miss Richmond and Mr. H. Baldwin.
Christmas greetings were received b.v way of a letter from the Mayor (Mr. .T. P. Luke), who forwarded a cheque for two guineas to nrovide Christmas cheer for the hospital patients.
The report of the health inspectors showed that during tlio month ended December 9, 1913, sixty cases of infectious diseases were investigated as follow:—33 eases scarlet fever, 3 cases diphtheria, 8 cases tuberculosis, 1 case enteric fever, 1 case bioo<l poisoning. 14 cases chicken-pox. The total number investigated during the. corresponding period in 1912 was !\9. ■
On the motion*of Mr; Gardener, il was decided to ask the Government to notify the board of any Rills coming before Parliament:, with reference to alterations ;to public; health or charitable aid laws. . ■
