SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.
On Tens-day a very pleasant evening was spent at the. Sailors' Friend Society's rooms, Queen's Chambers, when debates on interesting topics were held, a large number of sailors taking part. Mr. J. Moore, M'issioner, acted as chairman. A large audience was also present on "Wednesday evening, when Mr. I'. Fitzgerald provided a concert, Mr. Moore presiding. . The following contributed voca! 'and elocutionary items to the- programmo:—Messrs. Fitzgerald, 11. Cooper, Elliot, 0. Clarke-Warren, Lawrence. I'\ Eiler, W. Kenny, Simpson, and True. Mr. H. Petersen acted as accompanist. A mouth-organ competition was hold, and won by ' Mr. -Maun. During a short, interval, Mr. ■Monro delivered a Temperance address, at tho dose of which several men took the. pledge of total abstinence. ' Miss Kreeft presented each sailor- .with,,: a button-hole of flowers. A voto of thanks was accorded the performers at the conclusion of trio concert,' Mr. Fitzgerald responding.
