:MONTHLY MEETING OF. BOARD.,'. At- tho monthly meeting of the Harbour Board ou Wednesday, the chairman (Mr.. 11. Fletcher) presided and there were also present: Messrs. C. W. Jones, H. L. Nathan, W. T. Hildreth, R. A. Wright, J. Trevor, A. 11. Hindmarsh, M.P., M. Cohen, C, E. Daniel, A. D. Kennedy, A. M'Farlano, J. G, Cobbe, J. W. M'Ewan, and Captain D. J. Watson.

Tho bank balance showed that tlio sum of £24,483 Is. lid. stood to tho credit of current account, and tho sum of £1057. 19s. lOd. to the credit of the imprest account. Tho sum of £80,000 was shown as on fixed deposit. Payments for tho month amounted to £24,453 &. Id. In connection with tho Bona Bay and Day's Bay wharves, tho chairman 'reported that one hundred and seven applications had been received for the position of caretaker. These had been narrowed down to seven in the first place and finally Mr. J. Vv. 15. Jones, a resident of Eastbourne, had been appointed.

.Regarding the agreement with tho new Waterside Workers' Union, the chairman reported in what respects that agreement differed from the agreement with the old union. A resolution was carried giving t.he necessary authority i'or the board's representatives to sign tho agreement when it. was in order.

The chairman also mentioned tlio mattor of the second patent slip and spnko of tiio delay in connection with tho work. Ho moved "that tho secretary' writo to the Patent Slip Company pointing out the delay that was occurring, and stating that tho-board wanted tho company to carry out its agreement." Tho motion was carried.
