CARPENTERS' AWARD.
FURTHER PARTICLLARS Mr. Cico. Blathcrwick, .of tbo Amalgamated Society of- Carpenters.; and Joiners, has received a certified copy of tho Carpenters' and Joiners' Award, which clears up one or two points which were left in doubt by the Press Association message received a couple of days ago. Briefly, tho Lours of work are ii per week, and tho minimum wage is Is. 6d. per hour. Tho Press Association telegram stated that "factories are exempt now," but this is not according to tho award, for a memorandum attached to the award contains tho following: "The only question in dispute at tho hearing was -whether this award should contain the provision in the last award allowing certain factories to work up to <J6': hours per week without paying overtime. As this award will be, in effect, a Dominion award, and as both builders and workers desire uniformity on tho subject, the Court has dccidcd not to make any special provision in (connection v,'ith factories, and they -will 'bo governed, therefore, by tho general provisions as to hours." ... .
