BREEDERS' PRIVATE SALES.
(By Telcsraph — Special Correspondent.) MasfcrtOMj December 1?. A. largely-attended meeting of sheepbreeders, convened by the Masterton A. and P. Association was held licre tills afternoon to consider the probablo effect that the privato sale to bo instituted by Mr. William Perry, of Penrose, will have upon the local ram fair. Several speakers urged that Mr. Perry's sale would bo a good thing for thu association and tho district. Mr. J. 0. Bidwill said it was thought by some that unless the sale were held on a date near that of the ram fair buyers would not be present at the fair. Mr. Quinton Donald suggested that tho further the date of the sale was held from that of the fair the bettor it Would be. Mr. Perry explained that ho had no idea of 'injuring tho ram fair, but had fixed tho date of his sale to suit tho convenience of the Hastings and Mastortou fairs. Eventually it was decided, on tho motion of Mr.' D. M'Gregor, seconded by Mr. J. , Strang:—"That this meeting of brooders considers it would bo in the host interests of tho district that tho association should grant tho use of its grounds for breeders' private special sales of vams." At a meeting of the Ground Committoo of tho association, held subsequently, it was decided to grant Mr. Perry tho nso of the grounds on payment of Is. per head for flock rams, and 2s. Cd. for stud rams offered for sale.
