COUNTRY'S GRATITUDE.
SOME PRACTICAL EXPRESSIONS. Two resolutions which were carried at a meeting of> representatives of dairy factories in the Manavjatu district were read at tho mooting of tlio Employers', Farmers', and Citizens' Defence Committee yesterday. The resolutions wero as follow: — "That this mooting is willing to guarantee to contribute to tlio exI tent of ■ oiie-eiglitli of a ' penny per pound 011 tho October output of but-ter-fat received by each company . towards .tho cost of feeding tho : .wharf labourers during ..the' early ' part of the strike." the hearty thanks of this meeting bo convoyed to tho Wellington Defence Committee for tho ablo manner, in which the said committeo made the arrangements for opening the Wellington port and loading tho Homo steamers with our produce." Tho Employers', Farmers', and Citizens' Defencc Committ'eo passed a resolution at its meeting yesterday expressing its appreciation of tho lioblo conduct of the wives and families of tlioso farmers, who came to Wellington as special constables and worked on the wharf during the first stages of the strike.
