CHRISTCHURCH RUMOUR.
ON SETTLEMENT. (By Telegraph—Presa Association.) Christchurch, December 17. Rumours of a striko sottlcment have boon current in tho city and port to-day, but 110 information was to hand up till noon. Tho election result heartened the strikers a great deal, but the desire for settlement is as keen as it has been in Lyttclton from tho first, and the. men seem to feel that the time is now opportune.. Meanwhile the strike camp is still growing. Arrangements arc being mado 011 a large scale for strikers' Christmas celebrations, including Christraas i ' , 'troes for the -strikers','' Children. Additional specials left Lyttclton to-day.
