NO CONVICTIONS. , Air. W. G, Riddell,. S.M., dccided yesterday not to convict the men who had been fou-iid on hotel premises during tho period of strike closing.. v When tho cases wero hoard on Tuesday, Air. J. J. M'Grath, counsel in somo of the cases, raised the point that defendants could not be convicted as they were not on the licensed premises at a time when tho hotels wero "required by Licensing Act" to be closed. His Worship upheld tho contention. He said that there was tho clear distinction that- tho hotels wero closed, not by the Act, but by-an order of Justices, in pursuance of certain sections of the Act. Accordingly the cases wero dismissed.
