Mr. James Gordon, a well-known'resi-dent of Carterton, died at his residence, Park Road, Carterton, on Friday evening, at tlio age of 5S years. Deceased was born at Tawa Fiat in 1855, and in 1879 married a daughter of thelate. Mr. Eli Allen, of the- same district. In 1875 ho. camp to the. Wairarapa, and took np land, following farming pursuits at Dalefield for many years, do afterwards disposed of ■ his farm'-'and purchased a properly at Par!-: ■ Hosui, Carterton, where ho has snico residml..
