Speaking at Salisbury ' (Southern Rhodesia), Sir Starr Jameson announced that tho Legislative Council would an-' point a Land Board to deal with the land settlement question in Rhodesia. Ho stated that tho Chartered Company owned the land, and when tho proper timo appeared would defend its position. . ■ Mr. Egles, a member of tho Council, stated that a great majority of the people in tho midlands did not sympathise with the adverse resolutions of tho meeting which had previously been held, in opposition to the scheme, but wero prepared to discuss tins company's scheme.
