MEETINGS AT NIGHT.
SOME MORE WILD WORDS. Meetings in connection with the present industrial troublo were held in His Majesty's Theatre and the Opera House last evening. Both buildings were well filled, and delegates from strikeaffected areas, as veil as Federation officials, were the speakers. At His Majesty's Theatre the usual speeches wore made bv Messrs. Holland and C'anahan (from Auckland) against the Press, the Government-, and others. Mr. Hunter, a miner's delegate from tho AVcst Coast, spoke in a similar strain. Ho also stated ■ that he defied the Primo Minister to pass legislation and declare the striko otf. Mrs. Donaldson, president of tho Relief Committee, said that relief' was being given to 6273 peoplo in AVellington weekly. These consisted of 2730 adults and 3543 children. ' The figures quoted did! not inchido single men, or strikers and their dependants residing at I'ctonc and tho Hufct. ( Messrs. P. Hit-key, AV. T. Young, G. Gray, Gavin Storio, T. Armstrong (AA r est Coast), and 11. Voyco (liVttelton) spoke at tho Opera House. Practically all the speakers had something to say about tho Government and the special police.Mr. AA'. T. Young, in referring to tho Shipping and Seamen Act, said that ho bad obtained legal advice on tho matter, hut he was not quito sure whother. tho Hon. the Minister of Marino was within his Tij»hts in suspending the Act so as to allow ships to bo manned by inexperienced crews. After having explained the methods under which the Distress Committeo worked, Mr. G. Gray, secretary, urged tho workers to withdraw ' all their money from tho Post Office Savings Bank. lie also told them not to leave twopence in any institution with which the Government was connected. According to tho speaker, the Government was using tho workers' money to fight tho workers, and ho said that'tho only way in which that could be stopped was by tho workers adopting his suggestions.
