HEAPING OF Tjp HANDING- CASE. Yesterday His Honour 'the Chief Justice (Sir ltobcrt Stout) continued the hearing of the ease in which the Official Assignee proceeded against John White Harding, bankrupt, in an endeavour to set .aside the settlement of certain properties <by the defendant on his wife" (formerly his typist). Mr. C. ]'. Skerrett, K.C., with him Mr. Welch (Wanganui)' appeared for the Official, Assignee.. Defendant Harding was represented by Sir John Fiiullay, K.G., with him Mr. W. A. Sim and Mr. Allison (Wanganui). Mr. Skerrett called three witnesses, and , the case was then adjourned till this morning, when further evidenco will be taken. The witnesses were William Alfred Hewitt, agent for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Ltd., at Stratford; Edward John Ariow, New Zealand representative of Messrs. Weddel! and Co.; and Bryan'.Bassett, formerly accountant for Harding.
