ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
DROPPED DEAD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Waihi, December 10. Win. Walker, aged 40, wbilo -engaged in his garden yesterday evening, dropped dead. Deceased was on the staff of. tho Grand Junction Company. Ho leaves a widow, 'A' FATAL INJURY. Auckland, December .10. Edgar Walters, who was injured in tho machinery of the Takaputia Dairy Company's pasteurising plant last week, died in the hospital yesterday. CARPENTER FOUND DROWNED. Auckland, December 10. A body found in tho harbour has been identified as that of John Markic, a carpenter, recently ■employed in Auckland. He had been out of work since the beginning of tho' strike. He was last seen on Monday. A MINER INJURED. Auckland, December 10. A man named Fred Cook, who was employed filling coal in tho Extended mine, met with a somewhat serious accident this morning. Ho was filling the stokehold when, by some means, ho fell and sustained severe injuries to his back. It is also feared that ho has.several ribs broken. The injured man was carried to his home on a stretcher. CHILD FOUND ON BEACH. Mr. W. G. R-iddoll, S.M., held an inquest yesterday morning into tho circumstances surrounding tho dentil of the infant found on the l'etono beach. As a result of the inquiry it was found that the child had been still-horn. There-, was no evidence as to its parentage. MOTOR ACCIDENT AT PETONE. Mr. C. Pratt, of Bcllcvuo Read, Lower Hutt, met with an accident while motoring to his homo at a late hour on Tuesday night. As far as can be ascertained tho car was entering Petono where there is a somewhat sharp angle in the Hutt Itoad near the Gear Company's railway crossing. The chauffeur apparently did not gauge tho bend, with the result that the motor dived into a telegraph pest between tho eyclo track and the footpath. Tho watchman at the Government workshops, hearing a crash of glass, was soon on the scene where ho found both tho occupants of tho car insensible and the wind-screen and one lamp-glass broken. He telephoned for a doctor and another taxicab. Dr. Harding arrived speedily and tlioitfjh both men were shaken and otherwise hint very much, neither sustained really serious injuries. A passing motorear took Mr. Pratt to his home, and in tho meantime a taxi-cab arrived from town and the chauffeur was removed to town. The car was not serionslv dami aged.
