. 4 —. LARKIN SNUBBED BY TRADE UNIONISTS. CONDEMNED BY A LARGE MAJORITY. NO SYMPATHETIC STRIKE. By Telegraph—Press Association—OopyrisrM London, December !.'. At a special Trade Union Conference, in tho Memorial Hall, at which two and a half million British unionists were represented. Mr. Henderson, in justifying the officials' attitude, alluded to Larkin's attacks. Larkin jumped un, shaking his fists in a frenzied manner. Manv delegates shouted "Put him out." Mr. J. H. Thomas. M.P. for Derby and secretary of the Railway Men's Union, and Mr. Havolocfc Wilson, secretary of tho Seamen's Union, condemned Larkin, who replied in a half-hour speech, shouting fierce denunciations above the protesters' din. Many delegates shook their fists at Larkin, and several called him "Liar." Larkin denied havinp- said "To Hell with tho union leaders." though he said many of tlio delegates present to-day ought to bo nut in gaol. Ho declared, that the Dublin firfit would continue, even if tho British unionists did not givo aid: Ho was not going to get out of the road, and would go down fighting. The conference nassed a resolution condemning Larkin's attacks on tlio British union officials, there being only six dissentients.
A resolution was also passed favouring further efforts in negotiatin; - for a settlement. An amendment for a. svmnathetic strike was rejected bv 2 280,000 votes to 1>03,000.. (Rec. Connolly, Larkin's strike lieutenant, told tho congress delegates that they should have decided how to settle tho Dublin strike first, and washed their dirty linen-afterwards.
