MANAWATU A. & P. SOCIETY.
SUGGESTED GROUND IMPROVEMENTS. (By Telegraph..—Special Correspondent.! Palmerston, December 9. v Iff- E- S. M'Rae, chairman of the Manawatu A. and P. Association is maturing a big scheme for re-arranging the Palmerston Show Ground. Speaking on the subject at yesterday's meeting of the General Committee* l\t said be intended to submit a scheme to members at the next meeting. At present they-had a considerable area of ground not fenced, while in the fenced portion cattle, and other things were cramped for room. His scheme would provide for fencing the balance of the ground, moving the cattle pons thereto, and throwing tho large space bevond the oval open for side-shows and machinery. Another interesting innovation' for the show was suggested at the meeting, in a letter for Mr. G. D. 1?. Braid, Inspector of Schools. Ho said he, thought it would be an ' excellent thing if the association instituted competitions for schools in such things as singing, physical exercises, recitations, atheitics, and games. ' He pointed out that visiting scholars from other districts could see ivho.t sort of hand-work .Palmerston eln'dlren were doing, but would be similarly interested to sec them go through the various physical exercises, which were so important a part of school activity. ■ The suggestion was referred to the Winter Show Committee.
