Campbell iv'eio charged with stealing £47, the property of Keynolds and Kinvig. Sir. Wright represented tho Customs, 31 r. llobman appeared for. Campbell, and .Air. Donnellv for M'Cormack. .Mr. Wright stilted that M'Cormack was a clerk in 'the employ of the New Zealand Kxpre-ss Company lie passed entries of certain woollen goods ns cotton piece goods, dlltv free. Campbell, who was a "Customs clerk received the entry from M'Cuvinaek. compared it with ilm invoice, examined the goods ami certified to it. Accused were /committed for trial, the question of bail being reserved. ~ .Tt 11 h Owen and .T. A. Camnbcll wore charged with stealing <JKi Kis. from Ceor'e Davis and Comnanv. Owen, a clerk" in the emplov ol Davis m his evidence showed that he passed a Customs entrv for a ouantiLv of dutiable dress godos as tailors' trimmings, etc., duty free. The false entrv was ecrtiiicd bv Campbell, The »irm raid tho duty winch did not roach the Customs.
