[ARBITRATION UNION URGED. CB7 TeleETaun.—Press Association.} Ounedin, December 9. f A! public meeting was held at I'ort Chalmers to-night to consider tho position created by tiio strike. Several '.prominent townsmen, deplored tho loss caused by tho strike, wages amounting to £7500 being one item, and the consequent loss to tradespeople. Tho formation o? an. Arbitration. Union was urged ■in order to restore- tho trade of the port and prevent tho possibility of out- ; sido labour being introduced to force the position. Those present unanimously agreed that tho. formation of an Arbitration ■Union was desirable, and further developments aro expected to-morrow.
