STRIKE ARRESTS.

A man named Hie-hard Prince, a striker, was arrested by I)etectivoSer» gcant M'llvciiey and Detective Bailey oil Saturday evening. Princo is to ho charged with assaulting ono Bert Hathaway on November '/I. > A woman named Minnie Brown is to bo charged at tho Magistrate's Court this morning with assaulting a man named Mackintosh in a boardiiighouso in Dixon Street on Saturday night, by hitting him over tlio head with a bottle. Mackintosh was taken to a doctor, suffering from cuts about tho head. It is stated that tho trouble was arose over a matter connected with tho strike. The Farmers' Union on Saturday carried a resolution, moved by tho chairman, Mr. J. Wingate, congratulating tho authorities on the effective .manner in which they coped with tho strike, and offering assistance in future if necessary. The secretary, Mr. W. Hunter, read a circular appeal issued by -tlio Union executive to farmers. It stated that within oik; week of tlio union's appeal thousands of mounted men volunteered as special constables from Wellington, Hriwkc's Hay, and Taranaki, and similarly 'n. Auckland fifteen Jmndron responded. Tho Queen of tho South, which war, to open the port, stuck on the Foxtail bar, but subsequently berthed successfully.
