A STIR AT WOODVILLE.
CONSTABLE ASSAULTED. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) Woodvillo, December 4. A man who claimed to represent Labour, the Keel I'eds, aud several other things, took possession of the llain Street last night. Ho soon had a crowd around him. Ho had a great flow-of language Tho people stood his language for over an hour, but when he called tlio returned specials a lot of thieves several of the crowd went for him, and tho police interfered. Ho'remained quiet for a few minutes, and then asked a coustablo if he had anything against him. When tho constablo replied in the negative, he wanted to shako hands, which the coustablo refused, and tho man then struck the constable. Uo was arrested, and, with assistance, conveyed to tho lock-up. The man had ft mate, who immediately became aggressive, and used had language. He was a man over six foot, and it took six citizens to carry him to the gaol. Both men appeared before tho Justices this morning, charged with being drunk and assaulting the constable. They wore convicted and discharged on tho first charge, awl fined 203., in default twanty-four hours' imprisonment, on tho Becond charge.
