Earl Grey presided at the international dinner of the Proportional Representation Society. Many prominent foreign delegates were present. Earl Grey, its a speech, said that tho proportional representation movement was gathering weight, dignity, and momentum in ail pints of the Empire. He eulogised the activities of the societies which wore working m Now 'South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and Now Zealand., Mr. Philin Snowden (Socialist) said that if the'system was in vogue in Great Britain there would be from eighty to n hundred representatives of Lahoiir in the House of Commons. Only under a system of proportional representation could members ever be able to vote according; to their convictions. M. Gourdes Lorand claimed that the system had been a great success in Belgium.
