MIRAMAR COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last evening. Those present were: The Mayor (Mr. F. Townsond), Councillors S. Uudcivood, M. Tracy, S. M. Stone, H. A. Smith, and Br. Kdith Huntley. In rcspoiiso to a request the- Wellington City Council forwarded a schedule of the plant used in the installation of electric light in the Miramar borough. The question of the borough being represented by the engineer or the Mayor, or both, at tho coming annual'meeting el the Local Government Engineers' Into be hold in Auckland, was deferred for further consideration.

A-letter was received from the secretary of tho Miramar Municipal Electors' Association stating that the association wished to express its appreciation of the council's efforts towards beautifying the borough; also to draw tho attention 01 the council to tho state of the'footpaths at Miramar Quay.—lt was decided to obtain 11 report in regard to the footpaths, from the. borough engineer.

In accordance with recommendations of tho Works Committee it was decided that, as heretofore, all charges for water should be made bv meter; also, that ;i special meeting of tho council should be held on December 18 to consider by-laws- in regard to building, drainage, and water supply.

In answer to n query the clerk stated that unpaid rates at present total botween £300(1 and WOOO.—It was decided that an additional ten per cent should lie imposed on all rates unpaid by December 18. It was decided that the dog registration fees for 1014 should bo the .same as this year, the clerk' mentioning that at present 120 clogs are registered. It was reported in regard to the proposed new lire brigade station thai. the. foundations .are in, and that (he carpenters are to start on Holiday morning. On the motion of the chairman it was decided to draw the attention of the Uarhcmr Board to the disgusting words written up al! over tho wails of the board's ;;heri at Sontonn.
