BESET BY SHARKS.
CRIES BRING RESCUERS. After having boon face to face with death for nearly threo hours just outside Sydney Heads on Sunday week, two men were rescued just iu timo by three fishermen. ' Tlio rescued men, Alfred Bees and Arthur Longshaw, were bringing an 18ft. sailing boat from Cronulla to Sydney. As they were jibing the boat was capsized about threo miles from the s'lio'ro. Longshaw is unable to swim, and Bees had to swim after him and drag him ttf'thS'keel'of'ffic overturned boat, on to which they clambered. They saw a motor-boat about a mile off and shouted their loudest across the waves, but they wero not noticed. Tlio sea was pretty rough, and the waves frequently dashed over them. Bees repeatedly dived under the boat in the hope of clearing away, tlio gear, which would allow tlio boat to bo righted, but was only partially successful. To the horror of the two men three sharks appeared on the scene and cruised round and round them. . The sea becamo rougher as sunset approached, and Bees and Longshaw were repeatedly washed off tho boat, and every time it fell to Bees to help Longshaw as well as savo himself. They could see no sign of help in the failing light, and hoarso with shouting, and almost exhausted, their plight was desperate. Worse still, Longshaw began to lose consciousness, but Rees, who could siill see sharks prowling near, kept hold of his companion. Then, when he too thought that all was over a boat ajpeared alongside as if by magic. Jn it wero three.fishermen. These men had been fishing <.ff Coogec. As they were setting sail for the run homo one of them said that he thought ho hoard a faint shout. Standing up he looked seaward, and watching steadily saw what seemed a human arm rise up out of the water for a moment. The fishermen at once turned their boat, towards tho spot where tho arm had been seen, and came up i" the nick of time to savo Bees and his unconscious friend
