Laory, Featherston. G. Murray-Aynsley provided somo excitement for tho track-watchers at Riccarton on Thursday morning, when tho ploughed gallop was in capital order for time-making. Marsa, with the light-weight, T. Musscn, for a pilot, blushed over half a milo in 47sec. Considering the manner in which she finished, it was an attractive performance, and shows that she has returned to her best form. This gallop was followed by a nice performance from Warstep, who, with Musscn up, dashed over six furlongs in lrain. 13 4-ssec. Warstep has done well sinco tho Cup meeting, and there is every reason for believing that she is in better fettlo now than ever before. Mr. C." F. Mark, secretary of tho Auckland Trotting Club, will receive entries for the club's Summer Meeting up till 9 o'ciock to-morrow night. The fixture is to bo held on December 27, 30, and 31, and tho sum of £4000 is to be distributed in stakes. Royal Soult, a member of A. Nealo's Napier team, was expected to run prominently in tho Scurry at Feilding- on Monday, but ho broke down in tho race. His retirement was most unfortunate for tho Palmerston North sportsman, Mr. F. Martin, who purchased him somo time back. Expect passed the "vet." safely on Tuesday, and was taken to his new home at Awapuni the. samo afternoon. Somo of the progony of Endeavoui have been affected in tho wind, but there is no sign of such, an ailment iu the bay horse. Whilst doing a gallop at Porirua yesterday tho Bezanian mare Melpomene (half-sister to Sinapis) ran into a post and was badly staked; An artery was ruptured, and for a timo it looked as if tho marc would bleed to death, but later on the bleeding ceased. The services of a veterinary surgeon wero fjocured, and at present she is under his treatment. It is hoped that sho will be saved, though it is feared bloodpoisoning may set in. Tho prospects of her ever racing again are most remote. Melpomene has been a most unfortunate animal. When a two-year-old she. ran into a hurdle and was badly injured. Nominations for tho Marton Jockey Club's Summer Meeting closo to-mor-row evening with the club's secretary, Mr. Arthur "Way. It was stated during the currency of the Feilding meeting that the Highdcn stables would not bo represented at tho Auckland meeting. This may mean that A. Before leaving Hawcra for Feilding tho hack hurdle gelding, Tirohanga, disposed of Darby Paul and Kumalpi in a bout over threo fences. On iho strength of this trial ho was well backed in' tlio Hack Hurdles on Saturday, but gave a most disappointing display, and was in tho rear the whole way. Tho next day ho was in a very bad way, and could not start again. His trainer is at a loss to know what happened to him, but there were signs in His box that ho had got hold of something that did not agree with him. | General entries for the. Auckland Racing Club's summer meeting dose I to-morrow night. Acceptances for tho

Auckland Cup and Railway Handicap are duo at tho same time.

Sir Solo is fast coming back to form, and has been responsible for good work on the tracks at Opaki. After being raced at Woodville, ho will ho taken to Auckland to contest tho Cup and ether big events at the summer meeting of tho Auckland Racing Club.

It. Berry, in riding Lady Laddo to victory in the St. Andrew's Handicap, secured his second successive win in this event, ho having gained the verdict on Alira last year. The Riccarton horseman is riding very well now, and his showing on Lady Laddo would have done credit to a much more experienced horseman.

Mr. E. J. Wati will most likely start both Midnight Sun and Sen Pink in the Auckland Cup. L. Wilson will ride the former, and endeavours are being made to get 11. Gray to take tho seat nn the runner-up in the New Zealand Cup.

Potoa may be regarded as a sure starter in tho Auckland Cup,.in which ho will bo ridden by J. O'Shea. The present favourite for the race is Jack Delaval, on whom J. Conquest will luivo the mount.

So far nothing definite has been decided upon as to the movements of the Porirua pair, Los Angclos and Gipsy Belle, at Christmas, but it may be expected that the pair will make tlio acceptanco for tho Auckland Cup and tho Railway Handicap.
