Mr. Mark Levy, of tho Nelson Post Office, retires on Saturday on superannuation, having been thirty-five years in the service, tho whole of which' time was served in Nelson. The staff met their retiring brother official, and made him a presentation of a hot-water spirit kettle, suitably inscribed, and a hotwater jug. The retirement of Mr. Levy will date from February 28 next, he having been granted three months' leavo of absence. Mr. A. A. M'Lean, telegraphist iu the Tiniaru office, has been promoted to the position of postmaster at Ohaupo, near Auckland I .' . Mr. M'Len.u expects to leavo for his new station some time noxt week". The funeral took place yesterday of the late Mr. John Barr, one-time Mayer flfi'.Eh'stbourJK l , who died at Havoloek North, Hawko's Bay, on Friday last. The funeral left tho rcsideneo of Mr. Alexander Campbell, of Stoke Street, for Karori Cemetery, at 2 o'clock, and among the followers were tho Mayor and councillors and Town Clerk of Eastbourne, Mr. W. S. Shortt (ex-Mayor of Eastbourne), and tho elders of tho Kent Terrace and St. James Presbyterian Churches. At the house of Mr, Campbell and at the graveside tho Revs. J. K. Eiliott and"W. Shircr officiated.
