Loyal scions of our race, , Heady chance and change to fae£, \Xc shall die, but ne'er disgrace God's demesne, Australia. A competition for the musical setting of tile verses is now being held. The following are the chief of these:— "The musical must ho the original composition of tho competitor, who must be prepared—if required—to give a satisfactorv guarantee to that fiffect. Settings which have previously been published in conjunction with other words will not bo considorou. "Settings may bo arranged for a solo voice or chorus (in not mor.o than four parts'), or solo and clwrus combined, and in either ease a pianoforte accompaniment may be addc-d. Tho right is reserved to award the prize lor the melody alone. , . "Manuscripts submitted musii be legibly written iu ink, and on one sioo of tho paper only. Each sheet of tho manuscript, must bear a motto or noin de plume for purposes of identification. Settings bearing the name of the coniposor or any mark of personal ldetmticatiou will be disqualified. "Each competitor's manuscript must be accompanied by: (a) The entranco fee of ss. iu the form or postal notes or p.'iinv postage stamps only; and (b) a scaled envelope containing tho namo and address of the competitor and bearing on the outside the motto or nom <■» plume."
