Tho first inquiry, of which tlio prosecution of the quartermasters was tlio outcome, has led tho War Offico to purchase its supplies in bulk from tho moat importers direct, instead of through tho middlemen, thus saving £60,000 a year. It was -reported yesterday that the War Office was court-mnrtialling five quartermasters for bribery and corruption in connection with canteens.
