At a meeting of scientists at Breslau, Professor Lummor claimed tha.t ho had succeeded in liquifying carbon by means of a 220-volt arc lamp burning in a partial vacuum. This achievement, ho considered, was tantamount to the manufacture of rea.l diamonds, because, ho said, if tho carbon melted, it would bo easy to cool it down and crystallise it.
