THE AUCKLAND EXHIBITION
Our Auckland friends arc to be congratulated on the successful opening of their Exhibition on the "due date. The project which has been taken up and pushed forward with the utmost enthusiasm by the business people of the Northern City looked at one time as though its opening might be delayed by the- strike. The sympathy strike of the carpenters and the builders' labourers .fortunately occurred after the main building had been erected, but in any case the men were quickly replace!.! or returned to their work, and yesterday's ceremony took place in 'accordance with the arrangements made months ago and was in every way siiccot'unl. The Exhibition, which wan opened, by His Exceu.excy tuf. riovr.iiKO!!, is entirely due to the enterprise id' Aucklau d citizens. They have financed the enterprise and are carrying all the, fmaiicinl risks, it is of course hoped and anticipated thai it will be a financial success as well -as being' of value as an advertising medium for the products of the country and a means of conveying to the public information and ii.i-li-nictkui in various directions Quite a feature has been made of provid-
ing opportunities for ont'i'tammc-nt in connection villi the Exhibition, and it may be confidently expoctcd that Auckland will be the rendezvous of many thousands of pk-nMirc-seok-ot'3 fvom other parts of I ho Dominion during the coming hominy season. The Exhibition will ••email] open for iive months, and it is to lie hoped that the people of Auckland, wiii be rewarded by the success which their enterprise fully warrants,
