NELSON METIIODIST SYNOD.
The annual meeting of the Synod representing tho Methodist Church of -Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast, held in Nelson last" week, tho Hev. Will. Ikuiuber presiding, adapted almost unanimously the following resolution:— "This Synod is emphatically of the opinion that tho exclusion' of Bible-' teaching from the curriculum of our State schools is a momico to tho best interests of the Dominion. It believes that while the Nelson system is good as far as it goes, it does not adequately meet tho needs of the rase. It therefore urges the Methodist people heartily to support the platform of the Bsble-in-Stat-o Schools League as best calculated to remedy the present serious defect iu our education system." AUCKLAND METHODIST SYNOD. Hie annual meeting of the Auckland Methodist Synod, which was held last week, tho Hev. George Bond presiding, passed the following resolution:— "This Synod adheres to the conviction expressed hist, year that the people of tho Dominion are entitled to say whether tho Bible should bo admitted into their primary schools or not. "It regrets tho tardiness of tho Government in giving clfcct to the appeal of over 100,000 electors for a referendum oil this most important subject, aiui -pledges itself to continue to cooperate with other churches and organisations in endeavouring to securo this indisputable right, "The prolonged controversy of the past two years strengthens our confidence in what is known as the' New Eolith Wales system, by which tho Bible is placed in tlie school without infringing the rights of any parent or child, and without impairing our national system ol : education, of which save for its one delect, we are justly proud. "Further, this Synod heartily endorses the action of the chairman 111 requesting all ministers of this district to observe December 11 as the Bihle-in-Schools League Day, and trusts that not only will sermons bo preached on tha 4 t occasion, but opportunities given for' contributing towards tlw funds of the league."
