(By Telesrapli— Special Ecporter.) Fcildins, December 1. Leapuki was tho only withdrawal from the York Stakes, leaving a field of thirteen runners. Patronalo was a slightly better favourite than LadyLouisa, and the latter, giving a muchimproved display than on tho first day, won very comfortably. She got a break on tho tield at tho half mile, and from that point had matters all her own way. Patronale and several others seemed unable to act in tho going. Glenfcrn, who filled third place, was badly left at the barrier or ho would have won. ■ Heather, with Oliver in tho saddle, and Sunbird, who had tho allowance, divided favouritism in the Nikau Hack Handicap. At the start Heather jumped away two lengths clear of the field, but Grattau soon headed her off, and led till well into tho straight, when Iliad's Hero took charge. Sunbird then citmo with a good run, and got up in time to win by a' head. Grattan was close up third. Heather and Master Lupin failed badly, but Courtly and Sylvandalo both showed a lot of pace. All tho acceptors wont to tho post in the Manchester Handicap, lor which Birklino and Fair Rosamond wero supported in that order. It was a splendid race, and resulted in a close finish between Birklino and Otaliu, but tho latter (rot the last stride in, and won by a head, with Odessa closo up, and Leonta fourth. Moutoa Girl mado play for six ftirlonss, ivhon Fair Rosamond and Birklino took charge. The lastnamed and Odessa led till well into tlio straight, when tho Trcntham liorsowas done with, hut Otaliu then camo with a nittlo and snatched victory _ on tho post. Leonta was fourth aud l'air Rosamond fifth. . The Hover closed up favourite m the Open Hurdles, with Darby Paul second in demand. The pair gavo a very poor display, and were out of a p ace at tho finish.' Aberbrothock took charge soon after tho start, and led tho whole way. To Whotu threw out a strong challengo in tho straight, but, hard ridden, Aberbrothock stalled him off, and was a ncck to tho good at the finish. " 111 ago was three lengths away, and then came Darby Paul. Tho Rover was tailTwelve acceptors wero saddled up for tho Rongotea Hurdles, and. Timothy carried tlio bulk of tho support. Hum and Rcxer were at tho hoad of affairs till the live-furlong post was reached, where Rill headed them and strolled home an easy winner hy three lengths from Rc-xer, with Jiiekmaii a length ana a half away third, lbhar was fourth, aiid I lien followed Trooper. Lamsirorll, Tirohanga and Pikihoii. Fagot was pulled up after going six furlongs. The withdrawal of Exiiert, Krmciigarde, and Iliad's Hero left a field of nine to go to the post in the Oroua Stakes, and Ventura was selected to win. Tho field got away well together, and for a couple of furlongs Postillion, Gladiolc, and Ventura raced in front on terms, tlio others close iin. Ventura then drew out, and Our King also moved un on the outside. Tho Hawke's
Bay marc was first into the straight, with Ghuliole and I'ostilikm close up. Tiio last-named threw out his challenge at tho half-distance, and, heading t!m filly, won by. a length, with Gladio'e half a length away third. Lcapuki was fourth, and the others close up. Innolnddo got a break 0:1 the lieici in tho Maiden Hack Scurry and led to the distance, whero she crumpled up, and tho placed horses passed her, Gornnce scoring comfortably by a lcisg'.li. There was an equal distance between Rigo Park and Yictoris. Innolnddo was fourth. Coromandcl, Waipaku, and Sir Daniel were prominent in the early stages of tho Railway Welter, but at "tho fivoflirlongs post they were headed by Jargon, and lie led to the homo -turn. There tho placcd horses collared him, and a great finish, resulted in favour of Draft by a head. There was a length between second and third. Jargon was fourth and after him camo San Pluie, Coromaudel, and Matlow, with Settler last.
