London, October 23. Mrs. D. Ziman gavo a musical "athomo" at her residence, Carlton Mansions, Holland Park Garden's, last week, when amongst thoso present were: Mrs. Blanche Levi and Miss Levi (of Dunedin and Wellington), Miss Nathan (Auckland), tho Misses van Stavcreu (Wellington), Mr. Blow (Wellington), Miss Mary Mackonzie (Duncdiu), and Miss Bello Hyarns ("Wellington). Miss Adolaido van Staveren sang several times, as did also Mr. Blow, who i: j studying music in England, whilo both Mrs. and Mis 3 Kathleen Levi played, and Bliss Bello Hyams recited.

Major-General Godley, with Mrs. Godley, is in England on six months' furlough. Ho has been attending tho manoeuvres in the North, and is at present in London. Mr., Mrs., and Miss Clark Johnson, of AVcilington, arrived in London last weok, after having toured Italy and other Continental countries. They are now staving at tho Lancaster Gate Hotel

Dr. Sponcer Beard, of Masterton, who is over hero on a health trip, and has derived great benefit from a visit to several of tho counties, is at present staying with his brother, tho Rev. J. Brock Btfard, at Thurscoo Rertory, Rothorham, and then goes on to pay a visit to his son, tho Rev. H. S. G. Beard, in Bedfordshire, before his dopartilre, with his eldest daughter, lor New Zealand', by the Tainui, on November 6.

Tho Misses Johnson, of Wellington, outertained at Colvillo Square, Bayswater, last Friday, a number of friends at a farewell tea to their sister, Mrs. Tully, widow of tho late Dr. Tully, i'f Wellington, who leaves by tho Ruahine on Friday ? after a two years' visit to Europo with her littio dauglitor. 11 is probable that after settling her affairs in New Zealand sho will return in a year's time to England, to finish her daughter's education.
