AT WELLINGTON COLLEGE.
A SUCCESSFUL CATHERIND,
Tho promoters of "Old; Boys' Day" at Wellington College have every reason to feci pleased lvith t'lio success of tho iimugural gathering, in wliicli somo two hundred "okl boys" took part yesterday. Tho idea was that of tho Old Boys' Association, and with tho ready consent of tho headmaster (Mr. J. P. I'irth) an energetic committee, headed by Mr. M. C. Barnett, sot to work with most successful results, as yesterday's gathering demonstrated. Deferring to tho iuaugural function in a short speech yesterday, Mr. J. P. Firth said it would bo of incalculable benefit in bringing tho old hoys together and strengthening tho bonds which bound them together. Mr. Barnett responded with a short speech on behalf of tho old boys. Old collegians woro present from Masterton, Palmerston North, and _ Feilding. The day was spent most enjoyably in cricket (four matches being played), running, swimming and shooting events. Tho visitors included a large'number of ladies and frienda of tho old collegians. Afternoon tea was provided by tho old boys in a marquee erected oil tho grounds. Tho main event of ■ tho day was a cricket match between picked representatives of old and present boys, tho former winning by 30 runs. The following wero tho scores:— PRESENT BOYS. Gadsby, b.
