A groat deal of food work has been accomplished by members of the lien- Drivers' Union, which is in a flourishing state. Quito a number of old liands turned up at their employers' places ol business ami intimated their willingness to resume work. On tho first day that cnrling was seriously taken in hand (Thursday) there were moved from the A aud C Railway Sheds 120 lorry loads, and 011 Friday l;it loads of merchandise were shifted from tlit- stores to merchants' warehouses and shops. All of tho work was done by members of the new union. In two days they shifted between 1-100 and 1500 cubic ions of poods.
A meeting of drivers ami. others interested was held in tho Socialists' Hal] this morning. Seen by a reporter, 3fr. Hiram Hunter said that tiio meeting was simply called to talk over matters connected with the strike, and that 110 decisions were arrived at. "On Holiday night," said Mr. lluntor, "we are going to hold a monster meeting of driver:; and other unionists Ho definitely decide; what further action wo will take wilh njgard to the strike." "Will the rmestion of calling it off bo considered?" asked tlio reporter. "Certainly not," was the reply. "There is absolutely no intention of doing that. In fact it is more likely that it will be extended. lam pleased to say that the majority of the men are splendidly loyal and solid for their organisation." Enter—S.S. Wah'ns. She has a full complement in all departments, and will continue to rim in the ferry service in conjunction with the Pa teena. The Knion'Company's collier Kowltai was hauled alongside tho Walsinc on Saturday mnrninc, and the ferry steamer was coaled by a large gang of new unionists. At 6 o'clock 011 Saturday, morning the Shaw, Snvill, and Albion Co.'s big 12.000-ton steamer Covinthic arrived from Wellincion. but. as there was no berth available, she anchored in the stream. The Corinthin has 2000 tons of cargo to laud at Lytieltou. The tvniapni Shinping Coirmany's steamer Kiiiraki arrired from Kaiapoi at G.'to a.m., and berthed at No. 2 Wharf. About 600 tons of general cargo and urodueo li.-.ve been loaded for shipment by the Rainki for New Plvmouth, and Nelson, but it is probable fliai sho will not sail until Monday. The Wafcatu aud Oy<snet are loading full eargoes for Kaikoura, but, owing to the rain, they will not sail until Monday.

The ' horse was killed, and Davidson sustained a fractured elbow and a slight injury to one knee.
